Announcing the cast for LEF!
With pride I announce the cast for the new contemporary circus performance called LEF! (6+) consisting from the Dutch Maartje Bonarius and Harm van der Laan in collaboration with the Swiss-English Lisa Barrett, the German Marco Gorges and the French David Aubé. Starting fall 2017, with these five acrobats, I will create a performance for all the adventurous sissies out there. Maartje and Harm graduated in 2012 from Codarts Circus Arts and have been working as duo 'Tall Tales Acrobatics' since then. Lisa, Marco and David graduated in 2017 from the Centre Régional des Arts du Cirque de Lomme and will be working under the name TrioPourquoiPas. For more information visit their websites:
In 2010 Laura traveled to Cuba to film the DanceDoc 'Nothing rhymes with happiness' by Relinde Moors. This documentary was only shown during Cinedans 2010. For all the people that were very curious at that time, the film can be watched online now!
Revival VLIEG OP! (4+)
In Fall 2016, VLIEG OP! was back on tour. Audience as well as theatres were beyond excited about the first showing, and VLIEG OP! now has an additional 24 shows in The Netherlands as well as in Belgian theatres.
LEF! (6+) for adventurous sissies
LEF! is the sequel to the successful VLIEG OP! premiering January 2018, Laura will entertain us with innovative circus theatre for kids from age 6 and up. The sales for this show are already underway!
Premiere VLIEG OP!
VLIEG OP! had its premiere on the 19th of October 2015 in theatre 'de Krakeling' in Amsterdam. This spectacular circus for kids from the age of 4 and up was a great success for the kids as well as the adults.
Commercial Ronald McDonald funds
August 2015, Laura gave birth to her beautiful daughter Nora and became a mother. Mum and daughter helped create a commercial for the Ronald McDonald Child fund.
HEROÏCA wins Junge Ohren Preis 2014!
The annual ceremony for the Junge Ohren Prize, which specifically honors performances made for children in all German-speaking countries, was held in Stuttgart. HEROÏCA won in the category ‘Best practice konzert’.
GLOBE Behind the scenes
In December Laura traveled to Bogota, Colombia to perform GLOBE with Close-Act. In the video made during this adventure, you get to take a look behind the scenes of this large spectacle.
The performance HEROÏCA premiered on September 13th of 2014 during the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland. This musical theatre performance for children ages 9 and up was very well received by both young and old.
Interview in Dans Magazine
The August edition of ‘Dans magazine’ featured an article about the ‘Contemporary Circus’ in The Netherlands. Laura also spoke about the way she combines circus with theatre and dance in her performances.
The Lion’s Den
MAAS Theatre and Dance invited Laura for the festival called ‘The Lion’s Den’ where young directors are given the opportunity to present their work. On December the 22nd 2013, Laura will show a short 25 minute version of her performance STOP! In May 2014 during the next edition of ‘The Lion’s Den’, this short version will be shown again.
Lucerne Festival Switzerland
Starting from the end of January 2014, Laura will be co-directing a music theatre performance with Dan Tanson and 7 talented musicians from the Lucerne Festival Academy. September 2014 during the Lucerne Festival, this music theatre performance for children in the age of 9 to 13 will premiere. After that, it will tour around Switzerland and other European countries.
Pitch circus theatre for children
Right now, Laura and three other candidates are in the final round of a competition for young directors with the ambition to create theater for children. It is the first time that STIP theatre productions is organising ‘jeugdtheaterfonds’, a youth theatre competition. On the 15th of September in the Krakeling in Amsterdam, Laura will present a sneak preview of her performance aiming to win funds.
Swan Lake, Siegfried & Odette
Lonneke van Leth created a modern version of this classical ballet with a cast of 93. This mega production was shown in the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam. Laura danced on stilts the role of ‘mother of Odette’.
On the 29th of June, Close'Act's new performance named “Globe” premiered at the festival Mundial in Tilburg. Laura is one of the 35 performers swinging around in the 16 meter high globe.
